Making a special trip to Orford to visit the bakery or the Pump Street Workshop? If you’re planning to stay overnight in Suffolk, you have the choice of a fantastic range of accommodations, from cozy rooms to charming rentals rentals and more luxurious hotels.
We've listed them below with distance to Pump Street Bakery in the village square and to Pump Street Workshop in Gedgrave; there is ample parking at the Workshop so please don't hesitate to make the short drive.
Hotel
Located right near Orford Castle, the Crown and Castle was recently added to the Michelin Hotel Guide. It is an award-winning hotel that is also a 2 AA Rosette Restaurant and AA 5 Star Restaurant with Rooms. A perfect hideaway for gourmands, there are a selection of rooms to choose from including those in the main hotel, some with views of Orford Quay, as well as garden rooms, which come with a semi-private terrace. Rooms here start around £125 per night, depending on the season.

Bed and Breakfast
For a stay unique to Orford, stay with Mike and Polly at The Wash House Studio. It is a stylishly converted Victorian Coastguards’ Wash House with a double bed, ensuite and glazed lobby area. There are French doors leading out on to your own pretty outside space. You also have use of the nearby Shepherd’s Hut. Stays are for a minimum of two nights and no pets are allowed.
Pubs with Rooms
For a more casual stay, consider The Jolly Sailor or The King’s Head. Both pubs offer a friendly local vibe, and are in the centre of the village, providing easy access for the bakery. Prices here can vary, but you’ll generally find rooms starting around £100-£150 per night and don’t tend to have minimum stays so you can book for just one night.
For more information or to book, contact The King's Head or The Jolly Sailor.
Airbnb Options
Orford also has several unique Airbnb rentals that offer a cozy home-away-from-home experience. Options include:
Holiday Rental
Rent directly from the owners at Orford Holiday Cottage; this sweet 2-bedroom cottage in the heart of the village. https://orfordholidaycottage.com
Camping:
For camping in the summer months (May – September) we recommend Brick Kiln Barns, situated on the outskirts of the village of Campsea Ashe in unspoilt, quiet Suffolk countryside, surrounded by fields. Please note, no under 18’s allowed. Book here.
We hope this helps you with finding the perfect place to stay; please see our post on how to get here from London for information on trains and transfers.
